Weโre thrilled to announce that Wildwood Organics now carries John Tidyโs Organics certified organic avocados, grown with care in the Mary Valley hills of Amamoor, Queensland. ๐ฟ
Cultivated with Passion & Precision
For over two decades, husband-and-wife team John and Julia Tidy have cultivated their 80-acre orchard using organic and biodynamic farming methods – with sustainability and soil health at the core of everything they do. Theyโve relied on compost, biodynamic preparations, contour planting, and natural pest control to create rich, living soil that nurtures strong, nutrient-dense fruit.
Taste That Reflects Their Method
What sets Johnโs avocados apart isnโt just their clean organic credentials – itโs the attention to detail in every step. John leaves fruit on the tree until the oil content is optimal, meaning that when each avocado is picked it ripens naturally with full flavour – a world away from cold-stored, gas-ripened supermarket fruit that never quite tastes right.ย Supported by a suite of varieties – including Shepherd, Hass, Wurtz, Fuerte, and Pinkerton – John and Julia stagger harvests across the season, ensuring peak quality for months.
Regenerative Practices, Real Impact
Johnโs farm hasn’t used any synthetic chemicals since 2006. Instead, he partners with biological controls like Anastatus wasps to reduce fruitโspotting bug losses from around 20% to an impressively low 4% – all without pesticides. Techniques like contouring, mulching prunings, and strategic stock grazing support biodiversity, retain water, and replenish the land โ all part of a regenerative vision to leave the farm in better condition than when they found it.
